Beijing formulates support policies for foreign companies

Updated: 2021-09-18

The Beijing "Two Zone" Construction and Corporate Globalization Forum, hosted by the Globalization Think Tank (CCG) and Beijing "Two Zones" Office, was recently held at the Beijing National Convention Center.

Liu Meiying, deputy director of Beijing's "Two Zones" Office, remarked that Beijing is formulating incentive policies to better support foreign companies.

In recent years, Beijing has been making efforts to serve foreign capital, foreign companies and foreign talents.

In terms of foreign investment, China currently implements a negative list model for foreign investment access. Beijing not only applies the national version and the free trade zone version of the negative list, but can also take the lead in some fields under the "Two Zones” policy and even conduct the only pilot in the country.

In addition, Beijing is the only region in China that allows foreign investment in the production of audio and video products. It has also relaxed access conditions for foreign-funded non-profit elderly care institutions.

Beijing has no restrictions on the number of investment companies in China for foreign investment companies. The designated total investment amount has also been reduced from $400 million to $200 million.

Furthermore, Beijing allows foreign patent agencies to come to Beijing to conduct pilot projects and engage in related business.

Beijing has also made more efforts to welcome more international talents to work in Beijing.

Industries such as futures, securities, and architectural design are constantly liberalizing qualification access restrictions for them.

Beijing has launched a catalogue of 35 professional qualification examinations for foreign personnel that will be updated dynamically. Now more than 100 talents have participated in 35 professional qualification-related examinations.

In terms of improving living convenience, Beijing has increased the layout of international schools, with 19 international schools currently under construction.

Meanwhile, Beijing has also increased the layout of international hospitals. The city has not only cooperated with foreign medical institutions to build international hospitals, but also set up international medical departments in existing tertiary hospitals. International hospitals will also open up the international settlement of commercial insurance.
